YouthFund has enjoyed another busy month, with plenty of applications coming in. A few fantastic events have been successful in securing sponsorship and these can be found on our events calander. I am definitely looking forward to heading along to them!
Christmas is fast approaching which means that YouthFund will be taking a break over the summer. The board members will still be working hard, but we stop taking applications for a month starting the 15th of December.
This enables us to take some time to tackle what will be 2010’s biggest challenge; securing sponsorship! We are on the hunt for an amazing sponsor who is inspired by the YouthFund brand and all that it stands for; which is, essentially, helping young people reach their dreams.
If you can’t offer money, then we also love advice. A chat with anyone who is familiar with the sponsorship sector is invaluable, so if you would like to talk to us then email me. We would love to hear from you.
To finish, here’s a good analogy for inspiration. I’m not sure if many of you are familiar with the popular children’s book ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt,’ but there is a quote in there that I love. Every time the children meet an obstacle, they say: “We can’t go under it, we can’t go over it, we’ve got to go through it!” I think that is a perfect way to describe the important things in life. Sometimes it’s impossible to avoid things and the only way to move forward is to work through them.
So YouthFund is off on a bear hunt for sponsorship, here’s hoping we don’t meet a bear at the end!

Welcome to the first ever YouthFund blog!
I thought that it was about time I wrote a blog to let everyone know what has been happening lately in the Youth Bank world.
It’s been a busy last few months, that’s for sure! Since our fabulous yMedia team Reagan Qiu and Ajay Murthy designed this AWESOME new website for us, we have been getting so much more interest from local young people looking for support with their events. yMedia was such a live-saver for us as a community organisation. We managed to have our entire image rebranded, as well as two new videos designed. I would totally recommend yMedia to any organisation that needs a serious boost! Visit www.ymediagroup.org.
We are currently working our way through many fantastic applications, but the main thing on our mind is securing sponsorship to take us into 2011. We would love to hear from anyone who thinks that they can contribute in anyway. We are all about community and family at Youth Bank, so the more people that come on board in our quest to help us expand, the better!
We’re sponsoring an awesome event that’s on in Devonport this Saturday. It’s called the Devonport Big Spring Jam and we would love to see you all there! Head down to Windsor Reserve between 2 and 5 to enjoy some lovely music in the fresh Spring air.
Before I go, I thought I’d leave you with one of my favourite quotes: “Excellence is to do a common thing in an uncommon way.” Until next time, ponder that!
